DC Talk - Say The Words Now

Not the best video but one of the best songs by DC Talk. Turn up your speakers.

Have a great Mother's Day and tell her I can't wait to meet her. She will be so thrilled you probably won't need a card or gift. Trust me, I know these things.

Today's question: What is the oddest gift you ever made for your mom when you were a kid? Or, what is the oddest thing your kids have ever given you? I'll go first but I'm going to share my favorite memory of my mom. I remember the last time she rocked me when I was upset. I was 9 and I felt weird asking but she made it seem like the most natural thing ever. When I was pregnant with Hailey I went out and purchased a wooded rocker nearly identical to the one my mom had because of that memory.

P.S. Contest on Monday.

Dude, I remember the OLD version of this song...

I remember giving my mom flowers I picked out of our yard for about 5 years straight...but she DID love violets. :)

Your timing's uncanny...check out my blog for a video I just posted, mentioning an early Mother's Day gift I just received!

I guess the strangest gift I made my mother for MD was a macaroni necklace. Spray painted that sucker GOLD, to make it look like fine jewelry! LOL The neatest thing is, she wore it!

Happy Mother's Day, Stacy!

Oh, my poor mom. She was the recipient of SO MANY "gifts of love" . . .

-Homemade Rose Perfume - which, of course, one makes by soaking rose petals in water until it turns brown. She totally wore it like a champ.

-Homemade Sticker - which, of course, you make by putting a thick layer of glue on the back of various drawings which you cut out. They should stick if you LICK them, don't you think? You know, like a stamp?

Of course there were the macaroni necklaces, the paper plate hats, and the giant tissue paper flower corsages. She wore 'em all. Proudly. Ah, the woman has moxie.

When my kids give me home made gifts, I always tell them, "Oh, sugar! How sweet! But mommy likes store bought gifts!"

If you post a Father's Day gift post next month, I gotta great comment about the gift Peyton got Dane (my hubs) last year. I have pictures too ;-)

I always would go to extraordinary lengths to pick out a nice gift for my mom and carefully wrap it with a nice bow and sweet card. My mom would make such a big deal of the card and wrapping and I would just be beaming in anticipation of her opening the gift. Then my little punk of a sister would inevitably wait until about 3 seconds before my mom saw the actual gift and yell out "IT'S A NIGHTGOWN" and steal my freakin' thunder.

In elementary school, we had a fabulous art teacher who really tried to unleash our artistic abilities. (Too bad I have none.) During pottery time we frequently made "vases". The first one mom got looked like a coiled blue snake, totally lopsided. I'm now 30 years old and it still sits on my mom's desk to hold her pens/pencils. The 2nd one (made in 4th/5th grade) looked more like a flower vase. However, I was out sick when we painted our projects, and my mean friends chose ugly colors because they were mad at me. (Oh the drama of pre-teen girls). My mom also still has this beauty- at work holding a fake flower.

Happy Mother's Day, Stacy!

I got this poem from my then 8-year-old son last year:

Mom, you are: Lovely as a puppy, lovely as a kitten, and beautiful as a diamond.

Mom, I love how: you care for me when I am sick, you are full of surprises, and I love you very much.

You are my mom. You are my hero and my role model. Happy Mother's Day! Love, Jake
