I know it's kind of multiple personalityish of me to throw random clips on my blog without much explanation. What can I say? Sometimes you gotta go with your gut. In this case I gots a hankerin' for some chikety China the Chinese chicken. Apparently I'm not the only one. Morgan Freeman, who is the jam, has a voice that rocks my casaba. Second only to James Earl Jones, I'd watch PBS if he'd explain it to me. But it gets better. What do you think of this:
Now let's compare it to the original. But, first, I must say I could boogaloo my sweet tuckas right into eternity dancing to this song. Not that Christians are supposed to dance, or like music that sounds like it's sung in a nervous fit of Lithium withdrawl. I guess we all have an Achilles Heel and this is mine. Do I apologize for planting it squarely in your head and annoying the crap out of you while you're trying to concentrate on your work? No, not at all. (In the video I'm the chick with the blonde hair.)
What song get stuck in your head? What's your favorite song ever? (Besides pipe organ hymns, of course.)
This cracked me up. I've always like this song, especially how it challenged me to (a) figure out the words and (b) sing along with BNL fast enough. Apparently I'm easily amused as well.
ReplyDeleteSo lately the song stuck in my head is Zombie by the Cranberries (but it's my own fault b/c I put it on my exercise playlist, which in retrospect was a BAD idea--it's not even remotely inspiring to be called a zombie when you're trying to run fast).
Anyhoo, sometimes I just randomly yell out
the Zombee-yah-bee-yah-bee-yah part. I'm pretty sure I don't even like the song anymore. Except the bee-yah-bee-yah part....
Sad but true...this is my husband's and my song...and my kids and I know all the words and head bang to it often on our way to school.! I enjoyed Morgan Freeman on the song though!
ReplyDeleteNot my all time favorite, but today "Strokin'" by Clarence Carter has been stuck in my head...talk about making you want to dance!
ReplyDelete(And not very Christian ;).

ReplyDeleteI don't even remember how I came across your blog last week but I'm so glad I did! You're crazy and I'm right there with you.
My recent fixation has been on the VBS songs I was subjected to last week. The writers mean well, and they have a certain job to do. But boy can they can be insidious!!
My Sharona, by The Knack.
ReplyDeleteDrops of Jupiter, by Train.
ReplyDeleteAAAAAH SUM!
ReplyDelete" I will possess your heart" by Death Cab for Cutie
listen to it... I dare you...
I love this song! I spend most of it going "la la la la" because I don't know the words and if I did, I can't sing that fast.
ReplyDeleteStupid commercial jingles are always getting stuck in my head. The latest is from the Visa commercial where the super-talented pizza guy is tossing dough around. I think the song is called "Mambo". It won't leave me alone.....
When it's not that song, it's "boom boom clap, boom de clap de clap". Google that business if you don't know the song. Use the power to do so wisely. Once the song is in your head, it's hard to shake.
Wine helps.
Nelson's mama...they used to play that song at the beverage venue my hubs and I attended frequently while we were dating in college. I thought nothing of the song other than it was fun to dance to.
ReplyDeleteThen I heard it about 2 years ago on satellite radio. I about blushed myself out of the car when I paid attention to the lyrics.
But it could still be fun to dance to...if NO kids were anywhere near ;-)
Total Eclipse of the Heart has been stuck in my head for days and days. I like the song, but I wouldn't call it my "favorite." And it's rather annoying when you are trying to go to sleep and "TURN AROUND BRIGHT EYES!" keeps pounding through your head.
ReplyDeleteThat was full of awesome!
ReplyDeleteWV: usitypel - the off brand version of the sit and spell.
Like Marni, I'm forever getting commercial jingles in my head. Lately it's the Discovery Channel "I love the whole world" one.

I've nominated you for a Lemonade Award! Please see my blog for more details. Congrats!
ReplyDeleteWell, Sara, if you've been hearing Total Eclipse of the Heart, have you heard *this* version?

Sara, I hate to do this to you, but...

Today it's "I'm thinkin' about my doorbell when you gonna ring it, when you gonna ring it." Darn you Jack White!!
Aww, Jadon, you just beat me to it! Great minds...
ReplyDeleteJadon and Skerrib: My son and I just discovered that version of Total Eclipse this week. We posted a video response - the BobbiMuffin one, which was done by three high school seniors at a pops concert this past February. If you can't tell, I'm soooo proud.....
ReplyDeleteNeedless to say, those words just work themselves into your brain so deep they won't ever come out...
Right now, the song stuck in my head is the Breakfast Song. Everytime i hear bacon - pork chop or grits - it gets stuck in my melon.
ReplyDeleteYo Gabba Gabba songs are constantly being stuck in my head.....
ReplyDelete"Im so Im so sorry"
and "There's a party in my tummy, so yummy so yummy"
Best kids show of all time.
For all those with that ine song stuck in your head....try singing Tina Turner's private dancer to yourself. A fellow music teacher turned me onto it whenever I have an annoying song sticking with me, I do a couple of choruses and I am cured. I promise that Private Dancer will not be left in the offending song's place. Also, do not fear lack of lyrics on this one. The chorus alone is powerful enough to render even the most haneous song dead in its tracks. As for One Week, thank you Jason Priestly, wherever you are, for bringing us the marvel that is the Bare Naked Ladies. They are the best thing to come out of Canada since Bryan Adams.
