"The 'go' in 'go, therefore, and make disciples...' actually means 'go about your business'. Go, be a lawyer and make disciples. Go, be a CPA and make disciples. Go, be a teacher and make disciples. Go, do what God has called you to do. And make disciples." --The guest preacher in church on Sunday
John 1:12 "To all those who did so take him, however, he gave the right of becoming children of God--that is, to those who had faith in his name". For obvious reasons.
"The King is a big man, but he still can't eat his cookies with a shovel." One of my dad's favorite Hungarian quotes. Keeps me from getting too caught up in appearances.
"The reason they call them lessons, is because they lessen from day to day." Lewis Caroll in Alice in Wonderland. I know it isn't true. I love the irony.
My most recent fav quote is, I believe, by Garrison Keillor..."Going to church no more makes you a Christian than standing in a garage makes you a car."
"If sinners be damned, at least let them leap to Hell over our bodies. If they will perish, let them perish with our arms about their knees. Let no one go there unwarned and unprayed for."
"Inconceivable" "You keep using that word. I dont thinks it means what you thinks it means."
"She turned me into a newt....I got better."
"Are you saying coconuts are migratory?"
"If I were two-faced, would I be wearing this one?" Abraham Lincoln when accused of being two-faced.
"Everyone may be entitled to his own opinion but everyone is not entitled to his own truth. Truth is but one." Doug Groothius
"You can kill us, but you can't hurt us." Justin Martyr
"Nobody worries about Christ as long as he can be kept shut up in churches. He is quite safe inside. But there is always trouble if you try and let him out." G. A. Studdert Kennedy
"Defend the Bible? I would just as soon defend a lion. Just turn the Bible loose. It will defend itself." Charles H. Spurgeon
"The longer you delay, the more your sin gets strength and rooting. If you cannot bend a twig, how will you be able to bend it when it is a tree?" Richard Baxter
"God is looking for those with whom He can do the impossible-- what a pity that we plan only the things that we can do by ourselves." A. W. Tozer
A guy was in a Christmas play I once saw. He was one of the Wise Men who was looking for baby Jesus. He forgot his line and blurted out, to the other guy in scene,
"If only there were evil people somewhere insidiously committing evil deeds, and it were necessary only to separate them from the rest of us and destroy them. But the line dividing good and evil cuts through the heart of every human being. And who is willing to destroy a piece of his own heart?" - Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn
"What you really have to do, if you want to be creative, is to unlearn all the teasing and censoring that you've experienced throughout your life. If you are truly a creative person, you know that feeling insecure and lonely is par for the course. You can't have it both ways: You can't be creative and conform, too. You have to recognize that what makes you different also makes you creative."

We have little trouble picturing ourselves on God's side, but for the life of us we can't picture God stooping down enough to be on ours.
